She has taught athletics in a variety of capacities, and feels that sports are an ideal way to cultivate positive communication and develop a culture of collaboration.

Betsy also has collegiate athletic experience, participating at Berry College in Mount Berry, GA.  While with the Lady Vikings, her honors included NAIA Academic All-American (2009-2010), Southern States Athletic Conference All-Academic Team (2007-2008), Team Champion of Character (2008), Team Co-Captain (2009) and Team Leadership Award (2010).  She also served as the Team Representative for Athletes Bettering the Community (2009-2010) and was on the Student Athletic Advisory Committee for Berry's move into NCAA athletics (2009-2010).

She possesses a Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson.  For her, volleyball is a wonderful mode for modeling Christ and developing healthy relationships in individual and team-oriented moments.  Currently, she works full time as a Research Assistant at Precise Research Centers integrating psychological and medical innovation for patient improvement and care.

Some of her feedback from previous coaching is as follows: "Positivity, creation of a safe environment from which to take chances, investment individually in the girls, fast-paced and fun competition: when combined with a solid curriculum, these are what prepare energetic and athletic girls to become great players and leaders as they mature. Coaches can be 'tough' on the girls when needed once this environment is created, but the girls understand it is in the spirit of holding them accountable in their own best interest rather than out of a sense of frustration. We are very happy with our experience with Coach Betsy in this regard."
